In December, Bleeker students began their first ever Anime Club, an after-school club for students who love anime, manga, and everything Japanese. During the sessions, the group watches anime (which must be PG-rated), learn how to do anime art, and learn about Japanese traditions, art, and music. During their meetings, they have been watching and discussing anime such as Pokemon and Spirited Away. The club currently has over 20 members and is a great way for these students to learn about a different culture. ”The artwork, the plot, and the characters are very different than what you see in America” said Anna Papagianakis of class 733, who helped start the club. "The club is great because we are hanging out and doing really fun things with Anime." Space in the club is limited. Students who are interested in joining should contact Ms. Regnell, the Anime Club Adviser in room 227B. Their names will be added to the wait list. Until then, enjoy some of the great manga art created by the anime club! |
